2011 Western Open

Badminton NL is pleased to announce the 2011 Western Open in Stephenville, NL, Nov 11-12, 2011.  The entry deadline is 6 pm, Fri, Nov 4, 2011.  Mike Alexander of Alexander Simms Sports will convene this event.  All events will be round robin pools.

Unfortunately, online registration is not available for the Western Open, due to possible service interruptions while we change web servers over the next two weeks to serve you better.

Attached please find the 2011 Western Open Fact Sheet and Entry Form, Consent Forms, and Guideline to Badminton NL’s Long Term Athlete Development Competition Catagory Guidelines.

On the fact sheet, please note Badminton NL’s new annual individual membership ($13 for adults, $8 for juniors) and insurance ($12) fees, as well as Badminton NL’s new feather shuttle policy of one feather provided per person per EVENT.

Round Robin pools and awards will be established as outlined below.

  • Pool of 3, 4 or 5: Gold and silver
  • Group of 6: Two pools created and award gold, silver and bronze; For play-offs, 1st vs 1st, 2nd vs 2nd, 3rd vs 3rd.  Gold to the winner of 1st vs 1st, silver to loser of 1st vs 1st and bronze to winner of 2nd vs 2nd.
  • Group of 7: Two pools created and award gold, silver and bronze; For play-offs, 1st vs 1st, 2nd vs 2nd, 3rd vs 3rd.  Gold to the winner of 1st vs 1st, silver to loser of 1st vs 1st and bronze to winner of 2nd vs 2nd.
  • Group of 8: Two pools created and award gold, silver and bronze; For play-offs, 1st vs 1st, 2nd vs 2nd, Gold to the winner of 1st vs 1st, silver to loser of 1st vs 1st
  • Group of 9: Three pools created and award gold, silver and bronze, play-offs are comprised of the 1st place finisher in each pool.  These three then compete in a round robin to determine gold, silver and bronze.
