Copper Ridge site of French Shore Badminton Training and Tourney March 15-16, 2019
Posted on March 29, 2019Copper Ridge Academy in Baie Verte was the site for the French Shore Training and Tourney Combo on March 15-16, 2019.
On Friday, 15 players sharpened their skills under the guidance of John Gillam, Provincial Coach. Then on Saturday, players from Copper Ridge Academy and Cape John Collegiate La Scie, met for a friendly but intense invitational tournament.
In Boys’ Under 15 Singles, Noah Walsh from Copper Ridge won Gold while teammate Kaelen Davis took Silver. Ashton Small followed with Bronze.
In Girls’ Under 15 Singles, Jenna Decker of Copper Ridge won Gold, beating Kaylee Skinner of Cape John who took Silver. Makayla Rideout of Copper Ridge made Bronze.
A combined Under 15 Doubles saw Noah Walsh take a second Gold with team mate Kaelen Davis. Makayla and Jenna were runners-up for the Silver. Kaylee and Hayley Andrew also from Cape John took Bronze.
Finally, in Under 15 Mixed Doubles, Noah earned a Triple Crown while partner Jenna won her second Gold in three straight matches. Kaelen and Makayla took Silver while Ashton teamed up with Mackenzie Walsh to win Bronze.
It was an inspiring two days and plans will be made to establish the first French Shore Junior Open in Season 2019-2020.
